Ekphrasis
What protection have we now when our watchmen disappear within the camouflage of electronica? Our trans-human transformation at once elevates our intellect and infantilizes our behavior, rendering us naked: no facts concealed, no emotions checked, our taxonomy rightly infantisapiens.
Our protectors reach skyward, not in a vaunt of power but in an anguish of despair: they, too, disappear as we dissolve into interchangeable singularities, mere Turing machines of reproducible insignificance.
And as we slowly—insidiously—lose grasp of what ages past knew with certainty (no life is expendable, all life is sacred), we cast our votes for ignorance by choosing to dwell in a Wittgensteinian world of facts, not of things irreplaceably impermanent.
Pueri ex machina incustoditi sunt.
