Ekphrasis

Pork chops and apple sauce in zero gravity are explored by the artist through means of a colorful recreation of Escher’s classic lithograph, Relativity. Here, shocking-pink porcine flesh (la vie en rose!) contrasts with subtle blue hues of a dull life in Escher’s directionless staircase-world that graces the wall of far-too-many a college sophomore. Will the cloven-hoofed, zombie-like anthropomorphs arrive at a destination of standard orientation? Or does the back-embracing couple in the upper left-hand corner suggest a same-sex coupling in this dizzying portrait of gravitational entropy? The lack of specific genitals eliminates an easy answer to this question. A festive painting for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, Pigativity is sure to delight even those who gag at the thought of eating mountain oysters.
