When Time magazine questioned the existence of God on the cover of its April 6, 1966, issue—a magazine cover featured prominently in the film Rosemary’s Baby—no one batted an eye. But as society continues to descend into absurdity—with thronging, overpopulated masses mutually threatened by (gasp!) one another’s contradictory belief systems concerning the underpinnings of the cosmos—acts of individual and social annihilation escalate as our cosmologies pirouette higher and higher into ridiculous heights of nitrous-oxide nonsense. Here the artist provides a depiction of spiritual lunacy in its truest form, a distillation of all human belief systems into a black-hole singularity of expressionist egomania, a porcine portrait of the inescapable conclusion that God’s followers will provide the eschatological end of the world that we know. (And the pigs shall inherit the earth. Oink! Oink!)
