With the advent of the genetic improvements to hens by ConAgra and similar multinational corporations whose aim is only to improve the quality of the vittles served at mealtime—whether (egad!) at home or (ah, so much better) at a chain restaurant—the need for new sources of bio-medicinally untouched eggs will increase in years to come. Here the artist imagines a future relationship between placental mammals, who possess mammary glands and bear their young live, and monotreme mammals, who also possess mammary glands yet lay eggs.
A delicious massaging of the Platypus’s cloaca is interrupted by the boon delivery of an egg: fresh, fertile, and as-yet unaltered by the machinations of DNA-tampering humans. As the subject thrusts his interspecies fetish skyward, the sun smiles down upon the interaction of the two, mute with the knowledge of love whose name must not be spoken.
A delightful vertically-oriented painting for an entranceway or perhaps for the waiting room of a pediatrician’s office, Platylingus / Cunniplatypus is sure to soothe the eyes as well as serve as a focal point for grocery shopping deliberations.
